What’s included in the Master Plan?
The master plan study will help chart RDU’s future over the next 25 years. The plan evaluates infrastructure, facilities and future development needs to support anticipated growth. These needs include things around airfield, terminal, landside and support services. We anticipate the planning process to be complete in December 2016.
Think of the master plan as a high level view of planning RDU’s future. The amenities we provide at the airport like WiFi, our shops and restaurants, seating are not part of the master plan process. However, we want to hear your thoughts and feedback via our customer service portal so that we can continually improve these for you.
Will RDU be developing land as part of the plan?
As part of Vision 2040, we will assess the airport’s infrastructure, facilities and future development needs, including possible land development. These assessments will allow us to define a financially feasible capital improvement and asset management program that will take us through 2040.
We’re planning a public workshop on land use for Tuesday, June 28. We’ll be sharing more information on that session in the near future.
