Spring Break Travel Season Kicks Off at RDU

RDU Airport, NC – This week marks the beginning of the spring break travel season for area colleges and universities, as well as local county schools. During the next month, Raleigh-Durham International Airport will see increased passenger activity. As always, travelers are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your flight departure.

Tips to keep in mind during the 2006 spring travel season include:

  • Follow signs to RDU’s main parking entrance for all parking spaces within walking distance of the terminals. RDU offers more than 10,000 parking spaces between the terminals. Remote parking is also available in Park & Ride Lots 3 and 4. Electronic signs will guide motorists.
  • If you are parking in between the terminals, keep your parking ticket with you. When you return from you trip, use ExitExpress to avoid waiting to pay at the exit gates.
  • Obtain your boarding pass from airline Web sites before arriving at the airport, or at airline kiosks or the ticketing counter once you arrive.
  • Leave bags unlocked, or use a Transportation Security Administration (TSA)-approved lock .
  • Visit the TSA Web site for more information and travel tips, including a list of prohibited items.

Passengers are reminded that the terminal curb is reserved for active loading and unloading only. If you are waiting to pick up a passenger, you can park in the terminal-area garage hourly parking area, or may wait in RDU’s Observation Park or the RDU Airport Authority office parking lot, across from Alamo Rent-A-Car, until your party calls you to let you know they have arrived.
