Improvements to the Interstate 40 and Airport Boulevard interchange near RDU will require several slow-rolling roadblocks over the next few weeks.
Crews will begin excavating rock on Thursday to allow the contractor to grade the new ramps at the Airport Boulevard interchange. Some of the work will involve blasting to loosen the rock. Slow-rolling roadblocks are planned for both directions of I-40 between Exit 282 (Page Road) and Exit 287 (Harrison Avenue) to keep drivers a safe distance away during the blasting.
The roadblocks will occur at either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes. The first rolling roadblock is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 at 2 p.m.
The schedule and timing of the excavation and rolling roadblocks is weather-dependent.
