RDU Airport, N.C. – Area residents who frequently travel internationally and would like to expedite re-entry into the U.S. can complete the required in-person interviews for Global Entry in Terminal 2 at Raleigh-Durham International Airport April 28-30, eliminating the need to travel to offices in Charlotte or Washington, D.C.
Global Entry is a program of U.S. Customs and Border Protection that allows for expedited clearance through U.S. Customs facilities for frequent international travelers. As a bonus, the program also includes enrollment in the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program, expediting clearance through U.S. airport security checkpoints.
“The Airport Authority is pleased to work with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to bring the required in-person interviews to RDU,” said Teresa Damiano, vice president for communications and community affairs. “Our region has a large number of international travelers and bringing this stage of the registration process to our airport will help our residents enroll in this time-saving program.”
Global Entry participants use automated kiosks in the Passport Control area of 42 airports throughout the U.S. (including RDU) and at 12 designated international pre-clearance centers, thereby speeding them through the customs process. There is not a minimum number of international trips to qualify for Global Entry. Participants are still subject to random document checks upon re-entry.
