RDU Terminal 2 Weekly Progress Report

This Week’s Highlights:
Stores to Offer High-Tech Gadgetry; Shops and Restaurants Begin Construction

RDU Airport, NC – This week’s highlights at Raleigh-Durham International Airport:

New Tech Stores Set for Terminal 2 Debut
Among the retail outlets opening in Terminal 2 this fall are two stores focusing on high tech gadgets. Techshowcase and Apple iPod will provide travelers with a wide range of mobile electronics.

Techshowcase invites customers to explore numerous electronic devices from a variety of manufacturers ranging from Blackberry to Motorola to Sirius Satellite Radio.

Products are displayed by brands in “mini-stores” throughout Techshowcase. Staff members are trained by manufacturers on the ins-and-outs of each product sold in the store.

The Apple iPod kiosk will be one of RDU’s first automated stores.

Much larger than a vending machine, the kiosk will offer consumers a wide variety of electronic devices. The machine is shaped to provide multiple sides for customers to view products, read detailed product information and learn how to use the devices.

In addition to the latest versions of the Apple iPod, customers will also find electronic gadgets from Canon, Samsung, Sony, Belkin and others. Products are available immediately after purchasing and can be returned easily through a toll-free number.

Shops and Restaurants Begin Construction
When the first phase of Terminal 2 opens this fall, it will feature 26 shops and restaurants. This week, several concessions took the first steps to building out their spaces, including 42nd St Oyster Bar, Carolina Ale House, Starbucks, University Kids and Hudson News.

The concession program for Terminal 2 features regional favorites, as well as nationally-recognized brands. 42nd St. Oyster Bar will greet travelers as they exit the security checkpoint. Carolina Ale House, North Carolina Vintage Wine Bar Cafe and Brookwood Farms will also offer a taste of North Carolina.

Nationally-recognized restaurants to be featured in Terminal 2 include California Pizza Kitchen ASAP, KFC Express, Bruegger’s Bagels and Gorden Biersch.
