RDU Airport, NC – Visitors to Raleigh-Durham International Airport ‘s Terminal A can experience the latest collaboration between Artspace, a Raleigh-based, non-profit visual arts center, and the airport. The new exhibit features 30 works by four Artspace artists: Marriott Procter Little, oil and acrylics; Eric McRay, acrylics; Pam Shank, gouache and watercolors; Tim Postell, oil and acrylics.
This is the sixth exhibit at RDU produced in collaboration with Artspace. RDU features rotating fine art exhibits in Terminal A to give the public a respite from the fast pace of air travel.
About the Artists
Marriott Procter Little is a Raleigh native who attended Smith College and graduated from Duke University with a degree in Art History. Little’s paintings are in private and corporate collections here and abroad, including the Manhattan home of Alan Alda, SAS Institute, GlaxoSmithKline and the State of North Carolina , among others. Whether painting in a traditional or abstract manner, Little “seeks to evoke an emotional response that connects the viewer to the art, heart, and spirit of the artist.”
In his works, Eric McRay gives his personal interpretation of jazz, “the classical music of America.” Through his brilliant color, expressive brushstrokes, and improvisational application of acrylic paint, McRay captures the vibrancy and spontaneity of his musical subjects.
North Carolina artist Pam Shank has created paintings for over 20 years, specializing in watercolor portraiture of children. A departure from her life-like watercolors, the decorative “Art Nouveau” portraits in gouache were influenced by the work of Alphonse Mucha, created at the turn of the century in Paris.
Tim Postell describes his landscapes as follows: “These airy landscapes are the moments between breaths, the sound after a water drop rejoins a puddle, the instant after a leaf breaks free and begins its journey.” Tim approaches landscapes with the intent to allow the viewers to exhale and to reminisce about a moment in their life that brings them tranquility.
