Lot Provides Guests with More Parking Options

RDU reopened the Economy 4 parking lot today to expand the number of options available to airport guests. The lot, located on International Drive between Lumley Road and John Brantley Blvd., is open to drive-up customers now and will be available for online booking beginning Tues., Sept. 27.  

The rate for Economy 4 is $11 per day and $1.00 per hour for the first four hours. Shuttle buses run between Economy 4 and the terminals approximately every ten minutes.

Economy 4 was closed in 2020 due to declining passenger traffic. It was reopened amid increasing demand for airport parking, particularly during peak travel days. Express is now the only public parking facility that remains closed. 

As more travelers return to flying, the airport’s Parking Division continually monitors parking trends and evaluates all options for maintaining enough spaces. RDU proactively manages parking capacity by tracking the number of open spaces and calculating how many guests have made reservations in advance, which helps determine how many spaces will be needed and how long they will be occupied.  

RDU recommends booking parking at least 24 hours in advance at rdu.com and checking the website and airport roadway digital display boards to get the latest information about parking availability. Making an online reservation guarantees entry into the parking deck or lot of your choice.
