RDU Airport, NC – The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority today announced four retail concepts for Terminal 1. The new stores will feature ladies’ clothing, accessories and high-tech gadgetry, as well as regional gifts and favorites. The concepts were approved by the Airport Authority board today at its monthly meeting.
Four of the stores will be managed by the Marshall Retail Group, a Las Vegas-based specialty retail firm. The company will manage One Stop, which will have two locations in Terminal 1, Marshall-Rousso and Ruby blue.
One Stop is part bookstore, newsstand and convenience mart. The Marshall Retail Group is also partnering with the Raleigh and Durham convention and visitors bureaus to identify regional vendors that can provide products to be sold in the store. The store will also feature a wide range of products by Greensboro-based KimBees®.
Marshall-Rousso is a women’s clothing store that will feature the company’s signature collection, along with brands such as Guess, Carina, bebe, Tianna B. and Tommoy Bahama.
Ruby blue, which will be located next to Marshall Rousso, will feature jewelry, scarves, belts, handbags, watches, wallets and hats.
Construction on the stores will begin later this year for completion by the terminal’s opening in March 2014.
In addition to the Marshall Retail Group stores, Terminal 1 will also be home to the airport’s second TechShowcase. Like the one in Terminal 2, the store will feature a variety of technology-related items, including power cords, international adaptors, chargers and memory cards.

April Passenger Activity Report
During the month of April, the number of enplaned, or departing, passengers at RDU decreased 2.6 percent compared to the same month last year. For the year, the number of enplaned passengers remains flat.
The number of deplaned, or arriving, passengers decreased by 1.1 percent compared to April 2012. For the year, the number of deplaned passengers is up .1 percent.
The decrease in passengers can be attributed to schedule changes made within the last year by Southwest Airlines and US Airways. Southwest is no longer offering service between RDU and Philadelphia; it previously operated four daily departures.
US Air decreased its schedule to Philadelphia by two daily departures. However, the airline still operates seven daily departures to the city on most days.
The load factor, which refers to the number of seats filled, decreased slightly to 79.8 percent from 80.6 percent in April 2012. This change can also be attributed to the schedule changes made by Southwest and US Air.
