Authority staff, its Board of Directors and shop owners invited local officials and members of the news media to the grand opening event to tour the new stores, ask questions and experience the Shops of RDU. Authority President and CEO Michael Landguth introduced concessionaires and shared remarks with a crowd of more than 60 attendees.
“With more than 32,000 travelers passing through RDU each day, we already are experiencing passenger volumes projected for the year 2024, and just recently concluded record year growth,” said Landguth. “As the Triangle area continues to thrive, we are committed to helping our region adapt to its tremendous growth through campus-wide improvements that meet customer needs, including the addition of these shops.”
With the addition of 15 new retail experiences in Terminal 2, including clothing stores, a locally sourced gift shop, and a personal care services location, there is something for everyone. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time in their flight plans to experience RDU’s new offerings and become familiar with the new layout of the stores.
“At Root & Branch, our goal is to help customers feel at ease when traveling through RDU,” said Roderick McOwan, Chief Development Officer at Las Vegas-based Marshall Retail Group, one of RDU’s concessions partners. “We hope that passengers will view the airport’s new offerings as an opportunity to extend their vacation by stopping by our store to pick up a genuine locally-sourced memento of their trip to North Carolina.”
