RDU Airport, N.C. – The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority will close a portion of the ParkRDU Economy 3 parking lot beginning Monday, Aug. 1 for improvements. The lot is located near the I-40/Aviation Parkway interchange on National Guard Drive.

Improvements will include resurfacing, restriping and pavement rehabilitation on the bus loop in the parking lot. The routine maintenance efforts are part of the Airport Authority’s commitment to delivering excellent airport services and facilities.

During the improvements, about 1/3 of parking lot will be closed at any given time through early October. ParkRDU Economy 3 is the most popular of the airport’s two ParkRDU Economy lots.

Customers are encouraged to use ParkRDU Economy 4, located at 1215 International Drive. The lot is located near the airport’s north entrances near I-540, U.S. 70 and Lumley Road. The greatest impact is expected to be Thursday afternoons through Sunday evenings, which is the peak time for usage of the 3,800-space parking facility.

The airport will use social media, alerts and information on rdu.com and portable message signs near airport entrances to advise customers of parking lot status. Updates can also be found on the airport’s Twitter account, @RDUAirport.
