RDU Airport, NC – Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s Airport Director, John Brantley, was named 2010 Businessperson of the Year by the Triangle Business Journal.
Brantley joined the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority in October 1977 as a member of the engineering department. In October 1982, he was promoted to airport director, a post he has held ever since.
As Businessperson of the Year, Brantley is recognized for his more than 30 years at the airport and the major projects he has overseen during RDU’s transformation.
On Jan. 23, RDU will finish work on Terminal 2, the largest project completed during Brantley’s tenure. The $570 million project is also the largest in the airport’s history.
The terminal was completed in two phases. Phase one opened on Oct. 23, 2008. When the second phase is completed, the terminal will be home to 36 gates, six works of art and nearly 30 shops and restaurants.
