RDU Airport, NC – Sheetz, Inc is open for business in a unique setting — Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The convenience retailer opened a 5,000 square-foot store at 1145 Aviation Parkway in Morrisville, NC. The new Sheetz location is the first such retailer at RDU’s Aviation Station.
By situating the store right at one of the main entrances to RDU, Sheetz hopes to help bring a new level of convenience to busy airport travelers. Sheetz offers food, coffee, gas and many other items to people on the go. This 335th store in the chain is the second Sheetz location in the Research Triangle area, bringing the total number of Sheetz stores in North Carolina to 14.
“This is one of the most exciting store openings for us at Sheetz because it’s something new for us to partner with the air travel industry,” said Louie Sheetz, executive vice president, marketing, Sheetz, Inc. “The people of North Carolina have been very good to us and we appreciate the loyalty we’ve built in those communities. We hope the unique setting of an airport brings us new opportunities to offer our brand of convenience to as many new customers as we can.”
Aviation Station is owned by the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority and was created in response to customers’ requests for food and gas available near the airport. Sheetz will serve highway travelers, RDU travelers and local commuters as well as the local employment base surrounding RDU.
Sheetz will host a community grand opening celebration Tuesday, July 10, with a ribbon cutting set for 3:00 p.m. that day. Customers and all media are welcome to attend. As part of the July 10 festivities, the company will present $2,500 to the First Tee of Wake County.
