In April, we opened Terminal 1, which was the last major piece of our decades-long facility improvement program. Now, we’re shifting our focus to maintaining and enhancing the world-class facilities and programs that you enjoy at RDU.

Over the next three-to-five years, we’ll be launching a number of projects that will help us with long-term maintenance and enhancement of the airport. Before we begin, we’re reaching out to consultants and professional services providers to introduce our upcoming business opportunities and to explain how to do business with the airport. The first requests for proposals are scheduled to be released later this summer.
Business Opportunity Fair
To get started, we’re inviting professional services companies to a business opportunity and networking fair on August 7. We’re inviting firms that specialize in architecture, engineering, planning, environmental assessment, GIS, landscape design and many other professional service trades.
As an airport, two of the things we value most are learning and excellence. At this fair, we will introduce our upcoming opportunities and meet firms that can bring some of the best techniques for tackling these projects.
What We’ll Cover
At the fair, RDU staff will share:
- Detailed information about upcoming projects
- How to get your company registered to work with the Airport Authority
- Information on the solicitation process
- Tips for responding quickly and thoroughly to RDU solicitations
- Speed networking with RDU project managers
Networking Opportunities
We’re proud to have a robust minority-and-women-owned small business program at the airport. During the fair, we’ll share more about our program. Each of our upcoming projects will include small business goals that ensure that qualified small, minority- and women-owned businesses are included in each contract opportunity.
A feature of the fair is the opportunity to network with small business owners and managers and to form connections that will be key in responding to the airport’s solicitations. Our experience has been that these connections benefit firms not only for work with RDU, but also in the wider community.
