Passenger Traffic Surges Over July 4th Holiday

CLEAR Now Offering TSA PreCheck Enrollment and Renewal at RDU:

Passenger traffic at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) surged over the Independence Day holiday with nearly 329,000 passengers flying through the airport between July 1 and July 7 – an increase of 9.5 percent over the same holiday weekend in 2023. RDU broke another record in June, serving more than 1.4 million travelers and topping the most recent high mark set in May by more than three percent.

Travelers who want to expedite the security screening process can now enroll in the TSA Trusted Traveler Program or renew their TSA Precheck through CLEAR at RDU. TSA PreCheck members benefit from processing through dedicated lanes with the convenience of keeping their shoes, belts and light jackets on through the security checkpoint, and keeping electronics and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in carry-on bags. CLEAR offers in-person TSA PreCheck enrollments Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. More information is available on the CLEAR/TSA PreCheck website at https://tsaprecheckbyclear.tsa.dhs.gov/

As RDU continues to welcome record numbers of passengers, it is important for travelers to allow plenty of time to park, go through security and get to their gate on time. RDU recommends travelers arrive at the airport two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international flights. Airport guests can also make their trip easier by booking parking online at least 24 hours in advance at rdu.com
