One of the best parts of my job is announcing new flights. So, as a holiday gift for our passengers, I’m excited to share that Southwest Airlines will add to its schedule additional service to Denver and St. Louis. You can book your tickets on the airline’s website.
Be sure to pack your skis and snow gear for a second daily non-stop flight to Denver from March 10, 2013 to April 13, 2013. The additional flight is aimed at Spring Breakers, who want to hit the slopes in Colorado on their week off. The additional flight will also help with our strong demand for available non-stop seats to the Mile High City. It departs RDU at 4:35 p.m. and arrives in Denver at 6:15 p.m. local time.
This second flight will then return for the summer travel season, beginning June 2, 2013 just in time for vacations to the Rocky Mountains. With this trip, we’ll have both a morning and evening departure and return, making quick daytrips possible to Colorado’s capital city. The route is also timed for easy, one-stop connections to west coast destinations such as Portland, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Sacramento and Tucson, among other cities.
And, this summer, get ready for a second daily non-stop flight to St. Louis. More than 150 people fly between RDU and STL each day. The new flight will depart RDU at 7:10 p.m. and arrive at 8:15 p.m. local time, making quick daytrips a possibility with our existing daily route.
The additional St. Louis flight isn’t seasonal; it will stay on the schedule as long as people are using the flight. It also allows easy one-stop connections for destinations in the Midwest such as Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Omaha and Minneapolis.
These two additional flights from Southwest are a great investment by the airline in RDU and a huge step toward providing better connections between RDU and America’s heartland, where there is a large demand for non-stop service. And they are a great example of how we will be working to gain additional air service for our region in the future.
