Delta Adds Two New RDU Flights

Just in time for the year-end holidays, two popular cities are returning to Delta Air Lines’ route map from RDU. Nonstop service to Nassau is scheduled daily for the peak holiday travel period of Dec. 20, 2014-Jan. 20, 2015. Miami nonstop service will operate on Saturdays from Dec. 20, 2014- Aug. 15, 2015. Delta, Southwest Add Entertainment Options

Speaking of Delta, the carrier is planning to add free movies on coach class screens at each seat and free TV shows and movies on passengers’ own WiFi enabled devices. The new entertainment options will be on all Delta planes except for the 50-seat regional jet the carrier uses on short routes.

Flying with kids anytime soon? Southwest Airlines is adding the Cartoon Network to its free assortment of TV programming options on its inflight entertainment portal. All you need to do is fly on one of the airline’s Wi-Fi equipped planes (80 percent are connected) and use your own Wi-Fi enabled device to access.

SLC Airport Breaks Ground On Major Makeover

Sweeping views of the nearby Wasatch Mountains are what you can expect from the new terminal under construction at Salt Lake City International Airport. The airport recently broke ground on a $1.8 billion project to replace the airport’s current terminals.

The building will be designed to accommodate the airport’s status as a hub and be flexible to respond to aviation changes in the future. It’s expected to be complete in 2019. Check out the project.

Ground Transit Options Grow at Dulles and DFW

Metrorail service is a bit closer to reaching Washington-Dulles International Airport with the recent opening of the first phase of the Silver Line. Traveling to IAD from RDU? You can reach Metrorail with new Silver Line Express Bus Service from Door 4 on the Arrivals Level at the airport to the new Wiehle-Reston East Station. From there, connect seamlessly to the rest of Washington’s metro system.

Down at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport, Dallas Area Rapid Transit will connect to the airport’s Terminal A thanks to the opening of a new 4.7-mile extension of the system. The new rapid transit system will directly connect the region’s major airport to the center of Dallas and allow passengers to travel seamlessly throughout the region.

New Houston-Santiago Route Launches

Have you ever wanted to visit Santiago, Chile? United Airlines is launching a new non-stop flight from Houston-Bush Intercontinental Airport to the Chilean capital beginning December 7.

And, the new route pairs well with the flight from RDU to IAH, making it easy to travel from RDU to this major South American destination.
