Flight Cancellations Reported at RDU

RDU Airport, NC – Heavy rain and gusty winds from Hurricane Isabel have prompted some airlines at Raleigh-Durham International Airport to cancel flights. As of 9:30 a.m. the following airlines had cancelled all flights for the remainder of the day:

Air Canada
AmericaWest
Continental
Delta
US Airways

American Airlines and American Eagle have cancelled all flights scheduled to depart after 1:00 p.m.

RDU urges passengers with travel plans on all other airlines to call the appropriate reservation number to confirm flight departure as further cancellations are possible. Travelers can also visit airline web sites to find out the status of their flight.

Flight operations are expected to resume tomorrow. However, flights may be delayed or cancelled as airlines get back on schedule. Weather at airports along the east coast could also impact flight schedules at RDU. Passengers traveling over the next several days should contact their airline for flight status and to reschedule travel plans. The RDU web site includes a link to Flight Tracker, which allows passengers to find out if their flight is delayed or cancelled.

RDU will remain open throughout the storm. While the terminal buildings will remain open, the airport encourages passengers to come to the airport only if their flight is scheduled to depart.

Many airlines serving RDU have posted to their web sites information regarding schedule changes due to Hurricane Isabel.

RDU will release further information as conditions warrant. Travelers can also visit www.rdu.com for more information and airline reservation numbers.
