When our Terminal 1 Modernization Project is complete in early 2014, four exciting new restaurants will join one of everyone’s long-standing favorites. And yes, that favorite is indeed Starbucks.
Local, fresh, healthy and family-friendly are words that describe our four new restaurants. And, each features both children’s and breakfast menus. Without further ado, the new Terminal 1 restaurants are:
ACC American Café. This is the first time the Atlantic Coast Conference has partnered with a restaurant operator to venture into the dining world. Think upscale dining, not a traditional sports bar. Its menu features a range of farm-to-market dishes along with entrees inspired by the home cities of ACC teams. Tastes include steak, seafood, burgers, N.C. barbecue, wraps, salads, small plates and more. There’s even a ceviche dish to enjoy!
The restaurant includes a full bar, displays of ACC memorabilia, large windows overlooking the airfield and televisions. One thing we’re excited about is that the operator, HMS Host, is contributing some of the revenue from this restaurant to athletic scholarships and has committed to providing internship opportunities for students in the hospitality and culinary arts fields.
La Tapenade Mediterranean Café. When you exit security, La Tapenande will be the first restaurant you’ll see. This popular eatery is found at other airports around the country and is known for its locally-sourced ingredients that make up a wide menu of wraps, salads, paninis, hot sandwiches and flatbread pizzas inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean, including many non-salad vegetarian options.
One thing that’s important for our travelers is to have Grab ‘N Go options, and this restaurant will have plenty of them in addition to a large selection of prepared foods. And, everything in this eatery, along with the ACC Café, will be made fresh in house each day, right down to the sauces and salad dressings.
Char-Grill and Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina. One of Raleigh’s most beloved institutions and a Charlotte-based Mexican quick serve concept comprise our food court for Terminal 1. Char Grill will be bringing their tasty chargrilled burgers into the airport, along with their full menu, which includes N.C. barbecue and sweet treats. We really wanted something local in this food program and are excited to have Char Grill joining us.
In Salsaritas, you’re certain to have endless meal possibilities as you build your own burritos, quesadillas, tacos and other favorites. Your meal will be tailored to your preferences. Salsaritas will also feature fresh-made salsas, sauces and dressings along with locally-sourced ingredients.
Starbucks. And don’t forget Starbucks, which will be located in one of busiest parts of the terminal. In addition to all of your favorite coffees, hot beverages, teas and frozen drinks will be sandwiches, salads, desserts and more.
And one final note, as with all of our restaurants, most menu items from these restaurants can be customized to your tastes and each dish can be packaged to go with you to the gate or on the plane.
Which one of these are you excited about? Tell me in the comments below.
