Raleigh-Durham International Airport Passengers Now Have High-Speed Wireless Internet Access from Nation’s Largest Wireless Company
Atlanta and RDU Airport, NC – Cingular Wireless and the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority said today that high-speed wireless Internet service is now available at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). The newly installed Wi-Fi service allows travelers inside terminal gates and concourses to have un-tethered, high-speed access to the Internet using laptop computers and other wireless devices.
“RDU’s passenger base is technologically savvy,” said Ingrid Hairston, RDU business development officer. “These travelers use their time in the airport to conduct business, check e-mail and communicate with business partners or friends and family. As a result of RDU’s relationship with Cingular Wireless, passengers will now have access to wireless Internet technology anywhere in the airport.”
Cingular continues to address the increasing demand for wireless data services for travelers throughout the U.S. Either through its own network deployments or roaming partners, Cingular now offers customers access to Wi-Fi services at such additional airports as Denver International, Kansas City International, Louisville International, Philadelphia International, Salt Lake City International and San Francisco International. Cingular also provides Wi-Fi service at select Amtrak stations in the Northeast, including those in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Wilmington, Del., Providence and the Boston area.
“Business travelers in particular need to take advantage of any pockets of down time they have while on the road in order to stay ahead of the curve,” said Abhi Ingle, vice president, enterprise data solutions, for Cingular Wireless.
“Cingular’s Wi-Fi services complement our wireless broadband UMTS offerings and national EDGE wireless data network to provide these mobile professionals with high-speed Internet services to quickly access corporate information of all kinds to complete critical tasks while traveling.”
For $9.99, customers can connect to Wi-Fi service as often as they would like, from a single location, within a 24-hour period either inside RDU or wherever Cingular Wireless offers the service. In addition, a $29.99 plan allows up to five (5), 24-hour sessions from a single location, and a $49.99 plan allows customers to access Wi-Fi for up to ten (10), 24-hour sessions from a single location. After purchase, Cingular customers have up to six months to use these multi-use Wi-Fi service plans. Additional information can be found at www.attwireless.com/wifi .
