Board Approves Burger King At Aviation Station

RDU Airport, NC – The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board today approved the development of a Burger King restaurant at Aviation Station. Prospect Foods, LLC, of Huntersville, a disadvantaged business enterprise, will construct and operate the restaurant.

The restaurant will be the second unit at Aviation Station, located at the intersection of Aviation Parkway and National Guard Drive at RDU. Burger King will be located next to Sheetz, which opened in June 2007. Site preparation will begin in Spring 2010 with the restaurant expected to open in late Fall 2010.

RDU Releases November Passenger Traffic Numbers
Passenger traffic rose at Raleigh-Durham International Airport for the first time in 19 months during November 2009. Traffic increased 2.2 percent over November 2008. This is the first month-to-month gain since RDU began to see the impact of flight reductions due to the economic downturn.

A total of 742,646 passengers traveled through RDU in November compared to 727,930 in September 2008. Year-to-date 8,219,392 passengers have passed through the airport, down 8 percent from 2008.

The numbers were released today at the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board’s monthly meeting.
