Avelo Adds New Flights to Florida

Avelo Airlines will launch direct flights to Melbourne on Florida’s Space Coast this summer. Melbourne will be the 11th route for the fast-growing airline and a new nonstop destination for RDU.

“Avelo continues to build momentum at RDU as they grow along with our community and add new nonstop destinations,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “It has been rewarding to watch them expand at such a fast pace and increase the number of options Triangle-area travelers have to choose from.”

Avelo began service from RDU in May 2022 with one route and has since added 10 destinations, stationed two aircraft here and created more than 80 jobs. Avelo’s nonstop service from RDU to Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) will begin on June 23 and operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays on a Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

Avelo Airlines’ Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Triangle Region – we’re at it again! This new route to Florida’s Space Coast is the latest example of our commitment to bringing Avelo’s low fares, industry-leading reliability and caring service to RDU. We’re just getting started and look forward to inspiring even more travel among our Triangle region customers.”

Melbourne will join Avelo’s other direct flights to Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN); Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT); Memphis, Tennessee (MEM); Rochester, New York (ROC) and six Florida cities: Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) and West Palm Beach (PBI).
