Service to Orlando-Sanford, Punta Gorda and St. Pete-Clearwater Begins in May 

RDU Airport, N.C. – Allegiant Air will begin serving Raleigh-Durham International Airport with six weekly nonstop flights to three Florida destinations, airport and airline officials discussed during a press conference on Tuesday, Feb. 24 in Terminal 2. Service begins in May.

The airline will offer nonstop service to Orlando-Sanford International Airport with one departure on Thursdays and one on Sundays. Nonstop service to Punta Gorda airport outside of Ft. Myers and Naples will also be on Thursdays and Sundays. Additionally, nonstop service to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport in the Tampa Bay Region will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The airline will serve the routes with a combination of Airbus and MD-80 aircraft averaging 170 seats.

Allegiant Air is the first brand new carrier to begin operations at RDU since 2006. The addition of these three new airports brings the total number of nonstop destinations at RDU to 42. The carrier will operate from Terminal 2 and will be handled locally by Charter Express, which also handles Frontier Airlines and various charter flight operations from Terminal 2.
