Airline the latest to announce new service to Florida
RDU Airport, NC – AirTran Airways today announced it will begin nonstop service to Orlando beginning February 14. The airline currently offers six daily departures to Atlanta. Each year, approximately 325,000 people travel between RDU and Orlando. With AirTran’s announcement, airlines at RDU will offer nine daily departures to the city.
“AirTran’s announcement today is great news for our customers,” said Teresa Damiano, RDU’s director of marketing. “The new service will continue to create more travel options and better air fares for our region’s travelers.”
With the addition, airlines serving RDU will offer 20 daily flights to Florida, offering nonstop service to popular business and leisure destinations.
In addition to AirTran, JetBlue and Southwest have also announced plans to begin offering nonstop service to Florida. JetBlue will begin one daily flight to Fort Lauderdale on January 10, while Southwest will begin daily service to the popular South Florida city on February 4.
Today, nine major airlines and 18 regional carriers offer service to 46 destinations.
