Environmental Compliance Review / Public Workshop #1 for John Brantley Boulevard (JBB) Extension Project
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority (RDUAA) is issuing this notice to advise the public that an Environmental Compliance Review (ECR) will be prepared to assess the potential environmental impacts of the proposed John Brantley Blvd. (JBB) Extension Project at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. RDUAA will host a workshop for the public to learn about and provide feedback on the proposed project and the ECR process.
The workshop will be held on Dec. 11, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at RDU Center Room 100, 1000 Trade Drive, Morrisville, NC 27560.
The public will have seven (7) days from Dec. 11, 2024, to provide comments they believe should be addressed in the ECR. Comments must be received by no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2024. Comments may be submitted at the workshop or at publiccomment@rdu.com or by mail to RDUAA Environmental Programs, P.O. Box 80001, RDU Airport, NC 27623.

Environmental Compliance Review / Second Public Workshop for Park Economy 3 Expansion Project
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority will hold a Public Workshop for the Park Economy 3 Expansion Project on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Room 100 at 1000 Trade Drive, RDU Airport, NC 27623. The Public Workshop serves to present the results of the Authority’s environmental analysis and review efforts of the Park Economy 3 Expansion Project. You may request special accommodations such as audio, visual, transportation, or language assistance, by leaving a message at (984) 275-3167.
The Draft Environmental Compliance Report for the Park Economy 3 Expansion Project will be available for review on the Project Environmental Compliance Review webpage at rdu.com beginning Friday, July 14, 2023. Written comments on the environmental findings will be accepted by the Authority until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2023. Comments may be submitted via email with the subject line “ECR” to publiccomment@rdu.com or by mail to: RDUAA-Environmental Programs, P.O. Box 80001, RDU Airport, NC 27623.

Draft Environmental Assessment for Proposed Runway 5L/23R Replacement Project
Environmental Compliance Review Project Scoping / Kick-off Public Workshop for Park Economy 3 Expansion Project
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority held a Public Workshop to summarize the findings of the Draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed Runway 5L/23R Replacement Project on Feb. 28, 2023. The purpose of the Public Hearing was to provide an opportunity to receive verbal comments from the public on the Draft EA.
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority held a Public Workshop for the Park Economy 3 Expansion Project on Monday, January 9 from 5-7 p.m. in Room 100 of 1000 Trade Drive, RDU Airport, NC 27623. The Public Workshop serves as the project scoping / kick-off prior to completion of environmental analysis and review.
Written comments on the scope of the environmental review for the Park Economy 3 Expansion Project are welcome between January 9, 2023 and January 16, 2023 by 5 p.m. EST. Comments may be submitted to the Authority at publiccomment@rdu.com. Please state ECR in the subject line of the email. Written comments can also be mailed to: RDUAA-Environmental Programs, P.O. Project Environmental Compliance Review Policy
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority staff have developed a draft Project Environmental Compliance Review Policy for consideration by the Authority Board. This Policy will require staff to follow a structured process for the evaluation of environmental impacts during implementation of a project that would not be subject to review by the Federal Aviation Administration pursuant to the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), nor the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).
The public is invited to review and comment on this Policy, which may be accessed here.
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority will hold a public workshop on the proposed Policy on November 1 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The meeting will be held in the Airport Authority’s offices, in Conference Room 100, of the RDU Center at 1000 Trade Drive on the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Morrisville, NC 27560. Authority staff and consultants will be available to discuss the draft Policy. No reservations are necessary. For questions about accessibility or to request an accommodation please contact 919.840.7700. Requests should be made as soon as possible but at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled workshop.
Comments on the draft Policy are welcome and may be submitted to the Authority at publiccomment@rdu.com. Please state ECR in the subject line of the email. Comments will be accepted through November 11, 2022.

July 21, 2021: Environmental Assessment (EA)
An Environmental Assessment (EA) is being prepared to assess the potential environmental impacts of the Proposed 5L/23R Runway Replacement Project at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration are posting a presentation for the public to review the proposed project, the EA process, and to learn more about the purpose and need, potential alternatives, and the environmental resources to be analyzed. The presentation will be provided beginning July 21, 2021 on the following website: https://www.airportprojects.net/rdu-ea/. Interested individuals may submit comments related to the EA by mail or email during the established submission window. March 11, 2021: Virtual Public Hearing on Proposed Annual Operating and Capital Budgets for Fiscal Year 2021-2022
Due to the continuing declaration of emergency in North Carolina, a virtual Public Hearing was held on the proposed budget on March 11, 2021. This Public Hearing was conducted during the Authority Board’s special meeting for its virtual budget work session, which began at 1:00 p.m. Written public comments were submitted between the publication of this notice through March 12, 2021, at 5:00 p.m., which was at least 24 hours after the public hearing.
February 13, 2020: Sustainability Management Plan Workshop
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority held a public workshop on the Sustainability Management Plan on February 13th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The workshop was held in Room 100 of RDU Center at 1000 Trade Drive, RDU Airport, NC 27623. The Sustainability Management Plan process and the results of a baseline assessment was discussed during the drop-in workshop.

September 27, 2018: ParkRDU Economy 3 Environmental Assessment Public Workshop
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority held a public workshop on the proposed ParkRDU Economy 3 Lot Expansion on September 27, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the Airport Authority’s offices, in Conference Room 100 of the RDU Center at 1000 Trade Drive on the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Morrisville, NC 27560. RDU officials and consultants were available to discuss the Environmental Assessment process for the proposed expansion of the ParkRDU Economy 3 lot, slated for airport property south of Terminal 1.
