The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board held a workshop on June 13 about future expansion of Terminals 1 and 2 and other airport improvements planned under Vision 2040, RDU’s master plan for growth. The infrastructure upgrades in Vision 2040 will touch every corner of the airport campus in the years to come, including improving roads, adding parking, building a ground transportation center and centralized rental car center, expanding ticket counter space, increasing the number of gates and replacing RDU’s primary runway. Authority staff briefed board members on RDU’s current growth trajectory and many of the Vision 2040 infrastructure projects that will likely need to begin soon to accommodate more flights and guests.
