The Airport Authority has a long commitment to being fiscally conservative to maintain financial integrity. This allows the Airport Authority to weather the cyclical nature of the aviation industry. Our budget and strategic planning processes are closely tied together to ensure accurate funding for projects and operational expenses.
In 2015, the airport saw a growth in passengers. This led to a rise in customers in our parking facilities, additional taxi trips and an increase in the number of employees working at the airport.

The number of available seats on commercial aircraft departing RDU rose this year as a direct result of new air service offered by carriers. Additionally, some airlines upgraded the type of aircraft operating on routes. New routes and new equipment lead to the increase in the number of passengers and an increase in the load factors.
