On a snowy February 2015 morning, the Allegiant Airlines’ sunshine-themed logo debuted at RDU as the airline announced three nonstop destinations in Florida.

 

The popular ultra-low cost carrier opened new doors and opportunities for area passengers and added three new destinations for RDU when it launched in May. The airline offers service to Orlando-Sanford International Airport, Punta Gorda and St. Pete/Clearwater International Airport.

 

Unlike legacy carriers, Allegiant Airlines offers no-frills service and operates only on peak travel days. The carrier also avoids flying into most major metropolitan airports, preferring instead to operate at smaller airports.
