Operations Officer Don Atkinson Puts Customers First |
RDU prides itself on putting the needs of its customers first, and RDU employees are empowered to deliver first class customer service at all times.
As an example of such customer service, witness on March 1, 2007, how RDU Operations Officer Don Atkinson single-handedly made a lot of travelers very happy.

A flight was diverted to RDU due to severe storms at the destination city. As the aircraft sat on the runway, Don Atkinson received word that a major storm, with winds up to 50 miles per hour, was heading towards RDU. Atkinson took it upon himself to locate a gate to ensure passengers were not stranded on the aircraft during severe weather. He also held open a stairwell door so passengers could enter the concourse.
The airline crew and passengers were extremely grateful to Atkinson, who was recently commended by the Airport Authority for taking action to assist RDU’s customers. |
